The Río Cangrejal Experience

The Río Cangrejal cuts through Pico Bonito National Park just minutes from La Ceiba, making it one of the most accessible whitewater rivers in Central America. Trips run in the morning and afternoon and typically last two to three hours on the water, moving through a mix of calm pools and technical rapids framed by dense rainforest. No previous rafting experience is required for our standard route. Guides adjust the pace to the group and stop along the way for photos and a swim in calmer sections.

Good to Know

No. Our standard Río Cangrejal route is suitable for first-timers, and guides brief every group before departure.

Swimwear, a change of clothes, sandals with a back strap, and sunscreen. Cameras should be secured or left at your hotel.

Including pickup, briefing, and the drive to and from the river, plan for about 4 hours total.
